Rusty and I both really needed a de-stressing weekend. This is a difficult accomplishment when funds are tight. Still, we had to do something different--something other than sitting on the couch watching a rented movie and drinking beer. So we drove up to The Big City and wandered around the mall for a few hours, stopped for dinner and then test drove a Rousch Supercharged Mustang (price tag: $48k). It was school-bus yellow with a black racing stripe and quite the head turner. Boys of every age openly gawked. I rolled down the window so the sticker didn't show and he could pretend we owned it for a few minutes... Men leaned out of trucks and gave us the "thumbs up". Fingers pointed and jaws dropped. You'd think we were driving a Ferrari. He took off from a light and floored it--my head hit the back of the seat and my glasses flew up and almost off my head. It was actually worth the fear for my life and bodily safety just to see that Kid-in-a-Candy-Store grin on his face, which took several hours to fade.
