So yesterday, I don't know where my head was when I was listening to Boss and J bellyache about their womenfolk. Boss had to go to a meeting about 4 hours away and the company was putting him up in a hotel (they offered 2 nights, but he only needed one). He asked his girlfriend to go with him, but she didn't want to call off of work to go. J said he wanted to go.
Now let's pause a moment--this meeting was NOT in Vegas. It was not in anyplace ever known for ANYTHING, much less fun. Essentially, J was saying he wanted to go on a 4 hour roadtrip. Spend the night, then sit in the hotel room while Boss went to a 4 hour meeting, then drive back home. WHY anyone would sign up for that, I couldn't tell you. But J wanted to go. Oh, but J had to ask someone to take his shift so he could go--yes, he was willing to call in to work in order to go on the non-trip. J's fiance was not happy. "What's REALLY going on?" she insisted--after all, this didn't sound like anything a normal person would happily sign up for. And given the fact that they had just actually broken up (and yes, honeymoon has been paid for, etc.), then gotten back together 2 days ago, she has a pretty good reason to question motives for an out-of-the-blue move like this. Boss & J lamented about how demanding and unreasonable their women are. Boss mentioned that J would have to take an absence to go. J seemed surprised, then tried to convince Boss to let him take some sick time for it.
I just went home thinking they're both a couple of jackasses. Then I realized that today was CASH DAY, and J's shift was the one there specifically to help count cash. That's right, yet another cash day suddenly in a high pressure situation because Boss and J were out "canoodling" instead of fucking working. Sonofabitches!
