Because there's always room for more rage in my heart
How could I forget to tell you how my beautiful day even STARTED? Oh, because the fires of rage tend to erase your short term memory, that's why.
I had to start the day with a conference call. Innitech, being the brilliant minds that they are, naturally schedule these conference calls for twenty minutes after we open. You know, so we can stand around on our phones instead of helping customers. Normally the call is hosted by Opie, we spend 8 minutes taking roll and 20 minutes on useless bullshit that could have been sent in an email, and another 10 minutes on Q&A that doesn't apply to anyone but the person asking the question. Yesterday's call was hosted by Opie's boss, and we were joined into the other districts in our region, probably a total of about 200 people. Opie's boss started off the call acknowledging that we have "had our challenges" (thank God for the MUTE feature, because I actually laughed out loud when he said that), and that we've all been really awesome in handling it. Vague promises that things are getting better, blah blah, BUT, he emphasized: "I am aware that a lot of you managers are spending time on GroupChat complaining. If you spend one minute of your time complaining instead of trying to make things better, then you're part of the problem."
Yeah, that's right: we shouldn't be talking to each other about all the shit that's going wrong, and we're certainly not allowed to have an opinion about it, because clearly the problem is US COMPLAINING. Fuck you, you ignorant asshole.
Oh, he insisted he KNOWS what it's like because he's "been out there". Right, he has visited a few stores, and naturally that means he knows what it's like to come to work for a solid fucking MONTH and not know if you'll even be able to TRY to do your job. He knows that customers have given up even coming to the store for phones because word is out that we're CLOSED. He knows what it's like to hear "What good are you?" over and over all goddamned day. And OBVIOUSLY, the problem is we're a bunch of whiners.
